This is Uzma, one of my bestfriends. We met pretending to be bus drivers, on a climbing frame at the age of 4! It was such an honour to share in her wedding day.

Our new best friend Sarnia! All the kids at the wedding were really friendly and as well as being loads of fun were amazingly well behaved. I was really touched by being made to feel part of the family and being called fiona Barjei (big sister)Posted by Picasa

How do you make this thing fly? After the wedding was over we weren't really sure what to do with ourselves in Karatchi, its not exactly geared up for tourists. The temtation to stay in the lovely air conditioning of the hotel won us over too more than one day of pure laziness. When we did venture out we discovered one of Karatchi's best kept secrets. The Air Force and Navy museams, these are green parks with exibits such as this plane and are also the only place in this traditional muslim city where you can go on a date! We actually saw people holding hands, shocking! Posted by Picasa

Pakistan

To get me in the mood for travel and adventure and also to attend one of my bestfriends weddings I took a trip to very untouristie Karatchy, Pakistan. It was a surreal experience. The hospitality of my friends family and the amazing experience of taking part in her wedding made it a trip I will always remember. The culture shock of being surrounded by people 24/7, having no personal space and very different toilet facilaties bordered on traumatic and at times felt like an real endurances test. I was kind of ashamed of how much i love my wester comforts (i.e. tilets with seats and paper). This is the first time i understood what culture shock means!

First post

OK, I've set up this blog thingy up to help me keep in touch while I am away in Romania doing scary things in cold dark flooded basements with Psyciatric patients!!! Now I just have to figure out how it works. Wish me luck.
