Life in Romania

Well I am here and coming up to the end of my first week working in the psyciatric hospital. In some ways I have found that the conditions in the hospital weren't as bad as I expected. I had been prepared by VfMH for things to be really grim on the wards and while things a far cry from UK conditions there have at least been some improvements since the photographs I had seen which showed people sleeping inside straw mattresses with out any other bedding. I think anticipating the worst has meant that it has taken longer for how bad the conditions really are.
The patients are amazing to work with and show so much appraciation and love towards the volunteers, its really nice to get a great big hug especailly when you are feeling a bit home sick. There are lots of things I am really missing about home, mostly friends, family and my duvet, but everything is so different here and it feels a bit like an entirly new existience rather than just living in another country. This can be helful as it stops you dwelling to much on the stuff you don't have an focus on the things you do.
Anyway there is loads of stuff I want to say but its friday and I am not in a very expressive mood, it muc\st be my impending increase in age!!!
